I took my girlfriend shooting for the first time the other day and she loved it! I want to get her a shotgun that will fit her (she is 5'4" 110lbs) so I am thinking a youth shotgun, 870 or 1100, maybe a Nova. I do not want to spend alot on it because I am not sure how much she is going to use it but I do not want to buy a POS either. ANYWAY... either one that I buy, she wants a PINK stock and forend. Can ya'll tell me where I can find one? Does anybody have any suggestions about which one I should go with, or a diferent shoty that I could choose for her. I have never looked at smaller framed shotguns before and know almost nothing about them. (even though I have been shooting since I was 6  )

and yes I moved this from the general forum

I'm a woman shooter so I hope this lends some credence to the suggestion I make.... you might want to look into a 391 RL (reduced length). I have a 12 ***** and I like the fit and it sure breaks targets when I put the muzzle in the right place. You should be able to find a used one at a decent price. The 1100s are also good, reliable guns. Again, look for a youth/ladies model. I would look at an 870 as a last resort as they can be a little front heavy after a few rounds.

As far as the pink wood...... I suggest you make sure your girlfriend REALLY LIKES shooting before you have the wood painted. It could make it very difficult to sell or trade down the road should she not enjoy shooting or want to switch to a different gun. There are a number of good "gun painters" around. Indocil and Bruce Ney come to mind. A custom paint job will add to the cost and if you are looking for an inexpensive gun you may not want make the investment.

Good luck in your search. I hope your friend keeps shooting. We need more women in the shooting sports!
