Well, me and a buddy leave for San Anotnio in about 7 hours. This will be my first time there and I am looking forward to it very much.
I am nervous about the shoot, but I had the best day of my Sporting Clays career ever yesterday, so hopefully it will carry over.
Good luck to everyone who is going. Hopefully I will get to meet some of you and we will have a good showing for the SGW boys.

OK, so Nationals didn't go exactly as planned. For a first timer I can say that I had a lot of fun and shot OK. The good things: The targets were not near as scary as I thought they might be, the facilities were a lot better than I expected after reading some comments on here, the event seemed to be well run to me, the signage was excellent to get to and from all of the various courses, I was like a kid a a rock concert seeong all of the top dogs that are in the magazines and at the top of the scoreboard all the time, everyone I met and/or shot with from all over the Nation were very friendly people, at least I did well enough to be expecting a check, albeit a small one, the trappers were very good for the most part, I know I could have shot well enough to win any event I was in on any given day, make-a-break is a freakin' blast, I don't have to shoot in AA yet.
The bad things: I didn't shoot near as well as I coulda, it is almost overwhelming with everything that is going on, it is hard to stay focused with so much to see and do, the events were a lot slower than I am used to (having to wait at every station gives me way too much time to think), I didn't perform near as well as I know that I could (did I already mention that?)

Do you know Ralph Mc Alister(?) He was on my squad in the K-Cup from Raton N.M. Nice guy, and another gentleman of fine taste with his Super X 1....Jack

I have met Ralph, but don't know him well. I know his traveling partner Steve Williams better. If the gun had a Wenig stock on it the guy with the SX1 was probably Harry Wiley from Las Cruces. I know Harry fairly well, he is also on the NSCA advisory council I think. Nice folks they all are.

My memory really is bad, I know the guy's first name was Ralph and he said he was from Raton. His SX looked like an old field model but it never stopped working...Jack....have you ever shot with Rick C. I've always wanted to meet him. We have threatened for years to go by his restaurant when we go through Albu. . just keep winding up at Gardunos....JC

Jack,
I read your post wrong. I thought you said that you shot with Ralph and a guy with an SX1. I understand now. Anyway, I have met Ralph, but don't know him well. I have also met Rick, but don't know him well either. I have been to his restaurant (Paisano's I think) once, it's good. He is a good shooter. I am from the wrong part of the state to know these guys too well. I shoot more in Midland, TX than I do anywhere else besides home.
I met a young lady from Kerrville last week that shoots sporting clays when we stopped for lunch at the DQ there. Know anyone by the last name of Keller? One of the guys I was travelling with knows her. I think her family owns a ranch somewhere around Kerrville.
Kevin

Made it to a place in Bernalillo the other day known as "The Range" . It was as good as Garduno's. Margaritas were pretty d good as well.
