Can classes, and go to divisions. Three age divisions for males, three for females. Done. SUAS.

IMHO, not a good idea to move people up into the next higher class when they shoot a higher score than the class above them and their class is short of shooters. What if the other guy in your class does not want to be put in the class above them? What if the guy in the above class will lose out on a punch? When would it be decided to move your score into the next higher class, before or after you start shooting? Right now, you cannot change classes during a shoot.
It's disappointing to have too few in your class to earn a punch, but moving shooters up in class either by a new rule or by shooters choice is not a good idea.

You completely misunderstood the way this would be done. The classes are combined for one shoot only so that the shooters in the class with two or less can have a chance of punching up.

Maybe an example would clear it up.

Assume I'm in B class

I sign up to shoot and there are only two in B class (myself and joe blow)

We shoot in B class and stay in B class. We leave the shoot in B class unless we punch up.

Since there are only two in our class, our scores get cobined with those in A class to form a joint class for this shoot only.

So let's say there's 9 in A class. Add in the two B class shooters and now there's 11 total A/B shooters for the purpose of determining punches.

B class benefits because now they have the chance to earn punches in a class of 11 shooters. A class benefits because now with 11 the joint class can earn 2 punches for first and ties and 1 punches for second and ties. If the classes weren't combined (for the purpose of punches) A would only get 1 punch for first and ties.

So let's say Suzy Q in A class shoots an 87 and that's the highest A class score. Let's say joe blow (B class) also shoots an 87. Joe Blow tied Suzy Q (high A) so both get 2 punches (11 in joint class). Let's say I'm the only one to shoot 82 in the joint class and everyone else besides joe blow and Suzy Q scored lower. I get the remaining 1 punch.

Now the A class guy who shot 80 might feel cheated, but shouldn't because someone in a lower class outscored him.

If at the end of this either Joe Blow or myself total up 12 punches, we move up to A. If we don't we stay in B.

It's a temporary joint class for one shoot. Not a permanent promotion/demotion and not that difficult to implement and manage.

You saying the women can't shoot with the guys?

Three age divisions sounds great -period. For international stuff where there is a gender difference, just pick the ones with the best winning % in whatever events are used for qualifying.

Up to age 25
26-55
56+

And if we want to be nice to our older elders, then a 75+ group

Sure would make things simpler............

No, I'm saying I think it's a compromise between 195 classes, and what I think would work.

Your question would be better asked of the ladies themselves. I think you'd find they would like it.

Heard a trap shooter say once that he couldn't shoot one of the houses because of the angle compared to the rest of the trap houses that were all in a line.

I can't make that up.

You'd better duck and cover Roger - so far looks like Irma is going up the other side from you.....
