15/25 is a good all-around pair as is 15/20 as is 15/15 for most targets. 00/05 for really close, 05/10 for medium close and technical, 25's to 35's all good for way out there.

But end of day you need to actually pattern your chokes with your loads. For example, I have one barrel that patterns .018's with my preferred load just right at Mod, and another one that patterns it's .015's a little tighter than Mod. And ironically, both barrels are .740, and both pattern their .005's the same, yet the first .018=M barrel patterns its F tighter than the second .015=tightM barrel. Logic doesn't apply, and more or less constriction in one barrel may not translate to similar pattern performance in another barrel. You need to shoot them on paper or a plate and see for yourself --- or just choke up "tight enough" and forget about the rest

I still wonder why when this topic comes up (which is a BUNCH !!!!! ) it's always goes the same way. And I'll bet that most of us regulars that for whatever reason keep posting on them know we're not going to change anyone's mind whether shoot tighter or more open chokes,or change chokes when you think it's warranted.

So use what ever you are comfortable/confident with and just go shoot  I'm just a simpe ole country fella and the less I have to consider when shooting the better it goes for me. :) So I'll just keep running what I like and that frees me up to watch the line/speed on the show pair because in my mind/opinion I'm covered for near and far.And ya'll do the same {hs#

Now lets just go shoot and have a good time and enjoy our hobby :D

If I can answer the same question, from a different new shooter every day......that's ok with me.

This is true... any growth is good.

For you newbies - Screw in light mod or U2 for year 1 and forget about chokes for about 5000 targets.

After 5000 targets choke up and carry a handful of spreaders.

My gun is fixed M/IM and I like not ever thinking of chokes. Which is one reason I switched. Change in score average increased but not solely due to chokes as the whole gun changed. I really believe there is too much thought put into chokes.

There's a lot of bad intel out there about chokes....like Wendell using LM (w/ his fixed choke P-stick).

The undeniable truth is shooters want a magic bean. They can't believe that an old fart like me could beat them w/o some trick. PLUS they don't want to hear that the "trick" is practice.
