I had a person representing a Sporting Clays shotgun company tell me that sporting clays shooters want a fiber optic bead. Personally I prefer a white bead or none at all but he was bent on convincing me that fiber optic was what everyone wants. What say you??

Plain Bradley white bead for me, I don't like fiber optic at all.

White or just a plain silver bead is just fine.

A small white bead is best, but I don't mind FO as long as they are not those thick, super bright things most people sell.

My 686 came with one of these red plastic beads. It's not really a FO (it doesn't "glow" in bright sun) but it is HUGE (3 mm diam bead plus the steel around it).

The other day I was at the gun store and ran across these Truglo Starbrite beads. The FO rod is tiny (1.5 mm dia. x 6 mm long) and the steel base is hardly bigger than the rod. They were $10 so I bought one in red and swapped it out. Much better. The overall size is smaller, so it draws the eye less and the FO rod is so small that even in bright sunlight it has a faint red color. It doesn't glow like Truglo would like you to think based on their image. To be honest I like it.

None of the above choices; a small brass bead, if anything, so it's fairly obscure.

When mine did have a bead(just disappeared one day LOL) It was a small brass one and that's what I'll get/have on my next O/U.

My standard is the plain white Bradley style or silver or bronze bead. But I've shot fiber-optic, small beads, low profile beads, and of course even done nothing. End of day, it really doesn't matter to me because I don't notice it whatever it is.

I voted "none" only because my actual choice was not listed. I have replaced my rather large white beads with an "old school" smaller brass bead (like on your father's A5 or older Remingtons). I like a visible reference that does not take my eyes off of the target. It is a nice compromise.

Don't look at your bbl.

When you stop doing this all will be good.

When the bead on my barrel fell off, I won my class at the state championship.

I have a small silver bead on my new gun. I love it, I'm shooting the best ever.

However, in low light (like the last round before you'd turn the skeet lights on) I'm shooting terrible. I think I'm trying to see the bead... not sure. I had an orange bead before, no drop in scores in low light.

I had to vote for a white bead but really have no use for it. I shot for years without any beads but then replaced them because I got tired of hearing, "Do you know your bead is missing?", or, "Why is your bead off?, etc., etc., etc.

I just tell inquiring minds--"It fell off and I never noticed."

More than that I do not owe them.

Whatever came as standard issue from the factory is what is on my guns but I would have to pull the guns out of the safe to view and describe them.

When the gun is in use I don't even know they are there.
