What kind of food are you looking to try? They have just about everything. One of my favorite steaks is from Bobs chophouse and I'm pretty sure San Antonio has one now. The river walk is loaded with a ton of different types of food. The original rudys is pretty fun for people that haven't been there, decent bbq too.

El Chaparral (Helotes), Boudros (river walk), Perry's steakhouse (La Cantera)

Make sure you park where you can keep an eye on your car.

Three stops I always make at least once:
1) Bob's Chophouse is awesome, I eat there every time I'm in SA. Definitely 3-½ stars pricey, but great food.
2) Pappadeaux's -- yes it's a chain, and the one in San Antonio it's almost always uber busy, but it's a classic with good food and great atmosphere and reasonable prices -- a great place to hang out with your shooting buddies.
3) Rudy's BBQ, right near the complex. A gas station BBQ joint that offers very affordable traditional smokehouse BBQ, I usually do it for a later lunch or a casual early dinner stop.

Next time I'm there, I'm going to begin searching out the best Brazilian restaurant -- Chama Goucha, Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil?

Agreed! That is the most important part of traveling to any shoot.

What kind of food do I like? I'm partial to seefood- I see it; I eat it! I was hoping for some good barbecue and tex-mex. The chop house sounds great too. I might wind up DFL BUT, I'm going to have a great time and eat well doing it! Thanks for tips, Steve

Teppanyaki Grill & Buffet,
6719 NW Lp, San Antonio, TX

This place is actually a Chinese Buffet. What blew me away was that they had oysters on the half shell EVERY day. Snow crab legs I think it was Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the price increases a buck to $15 (relying on an aging memory so it may not have been the price). They also had couple of shrimp salad dishes and a bunch of cooked shrimp dishes along with the usual various chicken stir fry dishes. They also had the usual American food. AND sushi.

The Grill part is you can fill a bowl with uncooked items and a cook will grill/stir fry it up for you. Weekends I think there was steak that the cook would grill for you. I never tried that because there was so much of the other things I like to eat that I did not have to wait for.

Rosario's in Southtown. Avoid the weekends, very crowded and noisy but otherwise great Mexican.

Perry's is about 2 points better on a 100 scale than Bob's . They are both in the area of "The Shops at La Cantera" off 1604. There's a 2d Pappadeaux's there , too.

Enjoy.

I love Pappadeaux, eating there at least once while at the Nationals is a tradition now. And I will be sure to try Perry's this time - looks pretty good!

Yep - all good calls plus add Perry's.

Also I agree with the post about keeping an eye on your truck/car.

Especially if you're the type that has a lot of gun brand and Yeti decals on it.

Just had a pistol stolen (by some Movers) and I'm usually fanatical about this - even more so now.

If you want some genuine Mexican food try Cha Cha's on Bandera.

Does Perry's have a dress code? I might try it this time but don't want to have to bring a sports coat.

+1 on Rosario's and Bob's.

Never been to Perry's, might have to try that this year. Chuy's is another small chain tex-mex option. I like their creamy Jalapeño sauce. It's good on tortilla chips too.

As far as BBQ, I don't spend much time in San Antonio, so I haven't hit many local places. I do fly into AUS a lot and I've hit pretty much every BBQ joint I can find around Austin. To this Yankee, Black's in Lockhart is my overall favorite. I also like Rudy's.

Don't forget to hit Whataburger at least once.
