Thanks

It's a public range, owned by Game and Fish.

The state shoot warmup will be held there, here's that flyer:

The US Open Warmup will also be held there the weekend of March 31st.

The other club in the Phoenix metro area is Rio Salado. Also a state owned facility, but operated by a member managed club.

But the major shooting in March will be in Tucson, at Coyote Springs. Early March is the Az State shoot. Currently over 170 shooters already registered, since it's also the site of the 2018 US Open in early April.

Really, everything you need to know about Az Sporting Clays can be found here:

The three above are all worth visiting. I hit Ben Avery every Phoenix business trip I hit (it's closest to the office I visit). Great people and great facility. All 3 are good.

If you spend a little time here shooting in the winter, you will start looking for that snow bird home :-)

Don't forget Rio Salado in Mesa (eat side of Phoenix). I really enjoy it there.

I didn’t know Brad could read, I thought he just posted pictures because he can’t read. Where are your Rio pictures?

There is a Sportsman's Warehouse by the I-17 and Loop 101 on the way to Ben Avery: https://storelocator.sportsmanswarehous ... siteNo=117

If you are staying on the west side of town there is a Cabela's by the Cardinals Stadium: http://www.cabelas.com/stores/Arizona/Glendale/015.jsp

If you are staying out east there is Bass Pro: https://stores.basspro.com/us/az/mesa/1 ... obson.html

EDIT: Ben Avery also sells ammo on site. But I think they limit you to buying 6 boxes at a time unless there is a tournament going on, which you can then buy it by the flat.

Both Ben Avery and Rio Salado sell ammo at competitive prices. Unless you have other reasons to shop, buy what you need at the range and support the clubs throwing targets.

PS: The desk closes at 3pm at both places. You can shoot until 5, but must purchase ammo and targets before 3.

Ben Avery is currently on their winter hours. Sun-Tuesday 7-3. Wed-Saturday 7-7. Don’t trust the schedule you see online or even the recorded hours given when you call. They are both listed wrong. Call the clay target center 623-434-8119 and talk to a live body if you have questions. Great range. But the incorrect hours listed seem to be all over the place.

There are several Dicks sporting goods and one you drive right by on the way to Ben Avery. Always seem to have some promo ammo that will save you a few bucks. If I am shooting a tournament I go to sportsman’s warehouse or buy at the range.

We avoid Ben Avery on Monday and Tuesday because two of their three courses are usually closed due to limited staff.

Follow up on my trip I shot both Rio Salado and Ben Avery. Enjoyed both clubs, shot with some local guys at Ben Avery. At Rio Salado I really liked that they had 4 presentations at each station. Thanks for the info guys.

(Wife has a conference in Scottsdale in September)
