Make sure you post before and after pictures when you have it “set up like your Yildiz”. I’ve never seen anything quite like your first gun.

You must not read the NSSA/NSCA magazine, Clay Target Nation. This photo appeared on page 43 of the June, 2020 issue. This is just a cropped section of the photo, but you get what I mean. That is not me and my gun. Say what you will, it is the cheapest and most effective way of coping with an off-the-shelf gun and an erect head and neck mounting style, which is exceptionally comfortable and effective for numerous reasons including improved vision and less muscle strain. It's funny how jealous folks are of every %age point of their vision when it is about one or two eyes open, but they will gladly sacrifice a huge fraction of it to looking through their upper eyelashes with their necks bent like a pretzel. Sorry. I really didn't mean to get on the soapbox. Suffice it to say I was pleased to discover this photo. I am quite proud of having devised the fit technique for myself and now seeing that other folks use it too. At least I am lucky to not need the adjustable comb. The distance between my cheek pocket and pupil perfectly match the drop at comb on both of my gun (which are identical in that measurement). Attachment: Clay Target Nation 3.jpg

I was testing the trigger on my new gun with snap caps and couldn't get the second barrel to fire like it does on the Yildiz. I was getting a bit anxious that something was wrong until I remembered about inertial triggers. Sure enough, when I tapped the butt on the carpet after "firing" the first barrel, the second one fired perfectly normally. Glad I remembered that. Of course I should have already read about it in the user manual. Hey, forgive me. I am excited about having the new gun and wanting to get on with it. Baby steps!
I know this is anathema to most of you, but humor me. The way I aim when shooting the mid bead looks to be a big improvement over not having one. Lining up the two beads seems more precise and faster than trying to just skim the surface of the rib with my eye. We shall see.

Even better would be to install a peep sight at the back of the rib, AND a night vision/infrared scope with shot drop compensation, coindexed of course.

This thread is a good example of releasing prisoners from jail before they are rehabilitated.

I like having a mid-bead. It assures me of a proper mount before I direct my full attention to the target. Perhaps this is what Robert was referring to.

Seriously, are you telling me it is possible to shoot very well from the hip but not by simple aiming? Does that make any sense? Just consider what I do to be a trick shot. Suddenly it becomes possible in your world. Just imagine how skillful I must be to be able to shoot this way.

rpenmanparker wrote: Seriously, are you telling me it is possible to shoot very well from the hip but not by simple aiming? Uh no. I'm telling YOU just what I wrote above: that aiming and lining up both beads on the target is the IDEAL way for YOU to shoot! How can I be any clearer that I'm in 100% agreement with your assessment of how you should shoot??? It's utter lunacy to suggest shooting from the hip is more viable, and especially so for you.

Big day. I have the new gun complete with adjustable butt plate and pad. As expected Briley did a beautiful job. It sets up exactly like the Yildiz which is one of the things I now like best about my swiveled butt pad, canted gun fitting method, the easy ability to set up guns identically without futzing around with a hot oil bath trying to bend the stock juuuust so.
I am leaving in a few minutes for Westside to try it out. Unfortunately only the easy course there is wide open due to standing water elsewhere. No biggee. Easy targets will be good for a first shoot with the new gun.
Stay tuned.
