Is there any such thing as a shell catcher capable of catching two hulls from a semi? About ten years ago there was a device called the Multicatch. However, it didn't work very well , according to some who tried it, and I think the company is out of business because their domain name is for sale.

I don't know of anything new on that front. I was one of the testers for the Multicatch device, but could never get it to work consistently enough to suit me. After trying several different variations of it on my Beretta 390, I grew tired of fooling with it. I think the inventor probably got a little tired and discouraged with fooling with it too. All things considered, it's probably easier to just pick up the empties after you're through shooting. A good magnet on a stick works pretty well, has no moving parts, requires no maintenance, and is pretty darn foolproof. And they don't cost much.

While shooting in Europe a couple years ago I saw a simple magnet catcher that worked well. It was a strong magnet about 3.5” x 1.5” x 1” that was stuck just below the receiver opening. Couldn’t tell if it was homemade or a commercial product. It was no-frills but got the job done. The one I saw was similar to this one: Hope this helps. Demi

I was also one of the testers for the MultiCatch. It was an ingenious design, but I never could get it to work consistently. I shot one registered shoot with it and it worked flawlessly for 99 shots (48 pairs) and jammed on the second shot of the last pair.

The Multicatch is out of business. If someone would invent one that worked, they could make a few bucks.

If you think about it, especially if you are shooting Sporting, with so many free hulls to reload, you don't need a shell catcher.
One and done is the way to go, if you are catching the hulls to reload.
Shell catchers, no matter who makes them, are a PITA that create as many problems as they solve.
My 2 cents from someone who has shot autoloaders for trap, skeet and sporting clays since about 1987.
YMMV

I agree with Dogchaser but also want to suggest a Knock- Down Pin for all Autos ! With hulls littering most all shooting stands , out as far as 15 ft , when there's no need ! My knock-Down Pin directs the hull down at 45 degrees so the range help can easily rake up the hulls for the trash .

There was once both the "Morton Mechanical Shell-Catcher" and the "Morton Gas-Operated Shell-Catcher and Recoil Reducer". Both had hints of Rube Goldberg. Both allowed the gun to function for doubles. Both only caught the empties from singles and the second shot of doubles. Neither caught the empties from the first shot of doubles.
