Hi. I bought a second hand, but like new O/U Miroku shotgun. The action is very tight and I would prefer the gun to brake open a bit more easily....now I have to jerk the gun down to open it . Closing it is much easier Is there something to be done ? Or it’s just a question of time/use.... Thx for your help

It should loosen up after several thousand rounds.
Just shoot it. A bunch.

You hit on it, time and use.
You can lube it, and dry fire the heck out of it 5-10 min each day, opening it between ‘shots’ without leaving the house.

I don't know about the Mirokus, but on some makes cutting a couple coils off of the ejector springs makes a big difference.

Wishing for a tight O/U action to loosen up is like wishing for time to fly by faster. Don't rush it!

Go shoot it and then go shoot it some more. It should loosen up after you went through about 20 flats of shells. Like Randy said buying a used O/U that is that tight is a good thing!

Take the forearm off. Open the gun; do the barrels swing down easily? If so, and it's built like a Citori, you can judiciously file the front of lug, on the barrel, that the forearm latches too. That will make it much easier to open. If you don't want to do that, then you've already been given good advice.

Another thing that can make it stiff to open, firing pins are a tad to long. Look for drag marks on the spent shells, if you see any, the pin(s) may need to be shortened by a few thousandths of an inch. If none are seen, the above comments are spot on.

Clean the hinge bearing surfaces on the receiver, and the forearm recesses where they fit together. Lube well with a high quality gun grease, I use Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease or BattleBorne grease. Then shoot it. It will loosen up by your 500th shot, I would imagine.
Don't be jerking action to open a shotgun. You will bend metal. Open in in a controlled manner and close about the same way. Snapping a break-open shotgun or a cylinder in a revolver open and shut cuts years of useful life off of them.
Good luck, garrisonjoe

If you haven't been greasing them, look for galling.

As a point of potential interest: I have a 25 year old Browning that is tighter than my 9 year old Zoli. Not that the Zoli is loose, but the Browning is noticeably tighter.

If you want to work the action at home you do not need to dry fire, just open and close the action.
I had a friend invite me and a bunch of others to shoot with him. He had all of us shoot his new gun a number of times. Kind of like Tom Sawyer and the fence painting. LOL

Complaining about your shotgun being too tight is like complaining about your wife/girlfriend being too - - - well you get it. I have a Miroku that is nice and tight and I ain't complaining and - - - lube works.

If you don't want to do that, then you've already been given good advice. Filing the "front" end of the lug would do no good as far as making the gun easier to open. Instead, you want to file the "REAR" end of the lug. I've mentioned this several times on this board. Here is one of the threads where I describe the process: https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewto ... 2&t=197453
