I’m planning on buying a set of Mueller Chokes mainly for Skeet and Sporting clays I plan on starting with 2 chokes would you recommend U1,U1 or U2,U2 or something different? Or U1,U2 let me know you’re opinions please!

I just shoot Sporting and use a U2/U3 combo and even shooting any other games would still just leave in my 2/3 combo :) But that's just me besides it's about the stroke not the choke :)

May as well go all the way and get 2 x UO's for skeet then a U1, U2 & U3 and that'll cover you for any sporting target you're likely to encounter.

Fair chance you'll end up with them all in the long run, so may as well get the set now.

I've got the above plus a second U2.

If you are just going to get two to test them out decide what game is the priority and buy accordingly.

Use your factory optima extended chokes, and buy a light modified. Beretta factory chokes work better and were engineered for their barrels. Designed different than American chokes.

I was told by Jimmy Muller at the national finals (sporting) a few years ago to put in a couple of U2’s and go shoot. The U2 will handle nearly everything on a sporting course.

Depends on the course my 2 is GREAT to about 35 yards but around my area need a bit more so why I use a U2/U3 combo :)

Why not just ask Jimmy Muller what he recommends. He has a forum on this site or you could contact him via his website.

They are different games, ideally you would use different chokes. Skeet is a closer shot, I'd shoot two U0's or a U0/U1. For Clays, U1/U2 or two U2's would be my choice on the course I shoot.

If assuming you are sold on Mullers and that you only want 2 chokes, U2/U2.

You don’t need U0’s for skeet unless competing. I shoot Modified when shooting skeet, and with the exception of station 8, have 100% confidence that I am choked fine.

I've been shooting Optima HP bore barrels now since the A400 xcel came out, my personal experince has been with a U2 while I have all 4 U0 through U4, I shoot two U2's for literally everything, and or U3's, very seldom do I put a 1/2 combo in, or change from the 2's. I learned how to shoot one choke when I was using my A400 xcel, when I got my 692, I screwed two U2's in and called it good.

Play around and shoot alot and read your breaks, and then make your decision from there, I will tell you though that the U2's will break targets that are out there, so you don't really ever have to worry about having "not enough choke".

Whatever you decide pattern your factory chokes first and then pattern the Muller. You might be disappointed.

Get a pair of Pure Gold 15 and don't look back. You can thank me later when they don't crack

I came to that conclusion by reading Neil Winston's work.

The "cracking" of chokes you speak of hasn't happened in many many many years, and the people that had ones that did crack, they were replaced obviously free of charge and taken care of by Jimmy and his staff.

He also addressed right here on the forums and made sure that he was transparent with everyone about the problem, and he took care of it ASAP.

I've been shooting his chokes over 8 years now, not a single problem, the guy has gone above and beyond for anyone in the shooting community. I've also got the utmost trust and faith my mullers and the breaks I get at some of the distances I've seen are enough proof for me that they work.
