Well yeah.......but the rules are the rules, and the vest shots in a given game are still the best shots.

Know who the best would be in ATA, NSSA or NSCA if limited to 1 oz starting tomorrow? That’s right sports fans, the same who are the best today if you want less recoil, lower payload, increase gun weight, or both.

Know any US trapshooters that can outshoot the international bunker folks who use 7/8oz?

How have the international bunker folks done with their 7/8 oz loads shooting trap from the 27 yard line?

I will bet those folks could easily do fine. Folks who shoot ZZs use 1oz loads and start at 27 meters, closer to 30 yards, and those targets are harder to break........
1-1/8 are simply not needed, nor is the recoil.

Not needed by me, sure. Not needed by a world champion? Not for us to say.

Since felt recoil is pretty subjective........we’re it me, I’d buy several different flavors, go shoot them all at the same presentation, and pick the one I liked best. But that’s just me I guess.
This is my plan. Just wanted to get a good list of shells to start with.

I liked the STS before switching to 1 oz.

I still like the STS, but then I reload 15x with 1 ounce for every factory shot I fire with them.

STS comes in a 10z version; IIRC it runs 1290

I have shot a truck load of the GC 1145fps 1 1/8 oz and really like them. They have been harder to find at my normal outlets so I recently bought several flats of the red/white/blue and pink 1145fps 1 1/8oz Federal options and really like them; plus the added benefit of sending some $ to some good charities.

Side note - I also like the Herter's 1180fps 1 oz loads - they are definitely softer but both are easy to shoot.

Subsonics are low recoil.
Even 1.5oz jobbies.

Herter's 1 1/8 ounce at 1050 fps is the softest recoiling 1 1/8 ounce load I've ever shot.

Cabelas is showing a 1 1/8 oz load at 1060 fps in the new Herters ammo.

It appears that Cabela's is "Out of Stock" on all these 12 gauge loads of Herter's shells that I might be interested in. Anyone know who makes these shells in the US? Wonder how they compare to the previous ones that were make in Spain?

Winchester. Similar to Super Targets or Universals. Take your pick. No similarity to historical product. They will be back in stock soon if the past is any indication of future events. They come and go every few weeks. Meanwhile you might find Super Targets at Academy. I did this week.
