In 2020, the Overall Average for the Main was 217.32 and the 'M' class was 244.36.
In 2019 the averages were 210.12 and 236.90, respectively.

interesting and would be more meaningful if all other variables were held equal. however the figures could be influenced by a few other factors; weather was nicer as a whole this year and likely a bigger factor is the 500+ shooters who did not come. Were the "missing" shooters would have been within their class and which class would be interesting information to add into the mix. Would they have significantly influenced the average scores either up or down? What if the folks who did not make the effort or could not make the trip to come shoot were more towards the bottom of their respective classes? This would likely bias the average scores upwards.
Not arguing either way just pointing out that there are other factors that can influence scores even when the target setters attempt to set targets for about the same desired difficulty level yr. to yr.

Scores often don’t tell the entire story. Weather was terrible 1 day last year for the 4 day main and bad another day, this year it was great all 4 days with the exception of a little wind. There were also some notable top shooters missing this year, but plenty more not top shooters that didn’t attend to not drive the average down.

I shot both, I scored higher slightly this year and thought it was much tougher than last year. I just shot terribly last year and much better this year. From everybody I’ve talked to it’s split about evenly on what they thought, however people can’t even get a consensus opinion on which course was easiest and which was hardest. Different targets give different shooters issues.
