You're welcome. I'm a huge fan of the Auto 5. Got them in all gauges.

This will be my first hunting season with it . I plan to use it for upland game as well as geese and ducks. any advice on good non-toxic shells that will be safe for the barrel.

The serial number on my Browning A5 doesn't match up with the data on browning's web site. It's a 16 gauge made by FN, and has serial number 108***. The right side of the receiver has a few proof marks, a P with a star over it, above what appears to be an obelisk over some lion type animal, above P.V...also, the letters AKAH are stamped behind the trigger guard. Tang has no markings. Rounded pistol grip, safety integrated into trigger guard, mag cutoff. Has an interesting "poly choke" attachment on muzzle. Thanks!

Hello, I just bought my first A-5. It is a A-5 magnum, with Japanese steel.

Honestly (!!), I did spend time on the site to age this gun, but I am clueless.

What I have at the bottom of the receiver:

70V
74120

I don't see anything mentioned about a 'V'. I hope I didn't get some kind of knock off or something... :(

I do appreciate your help!

My A-5 is stamped R with 4435 directly below it. I find no reference to the "R" on the browning website.
Anyone have any idea how old this gun is?

Well, sure hope someone can help -
Age of a Belgian made 12ga Auto5, standard field grade, 2 3/4, no rib, serial 4572xx - Browning site does not such a number, it goes beyond the 1953 range - confusing!
Thanks in advance!

First time poster here. Really like the site. So, I too, am confused at the Browning site. I have two A-5's.
One has a serial # of 4V 58XXX on the receiver. On the barrel it has V21XXX. It also has *+* special steel. In a smaller stamp it has 1kg1352.
The other has a serial # of OV28XXX. Also on the receiver, next to the bolt activator is stamped AFV and an arrow pointing down. On the barrel is V28XXX. It also has special steel stamped on it with no prefix. The smaller stamp says 1kg380.
Both have a series of symbols on the barrels. Both are stamped made in Belgium on the barrels
I appreciate any help. I read the thread but did not see this addressed.
Kurt

I can not find a Cynergy O/U on that list. My S/N is 01775MR*** I would guess it was made in 2007?

New to the site and apparently in the same position as several others. I have what I believe is a A5 twenty guage, based on the fact that "Twenty" is written in script on the left side of the receiver...there is also what appears to be a quail or pheasant stamp above the "twenty" and also in several other places on the reciever and on the back of the receiver as you look down the bbl. I don't know much about the gun but am curious about the manufacture date, etc. Can't seem to match anything I found on browning.com or any other site for that matter...here is what I can tell about the gun...Any info anyone could provide is appreciated.

Browning Fire Arms Co - St Louis MO and Montreal PQ on left side of bbl
Made in Belgium on right side of bbl
1Z over 47994 at front of loading chamber
Gold plated trigger
Safety is push button behind trigger
Special steel-20ga-shells 2 3/4 on left side of bbl

Upon removing the bbl you can also see the following stamps on the left side of the bbl
looks like a backwards 9 with a line through it
a backwards D
PV under a crown
a stamp that looks like another crown with 3 letters inside of it...of which two are an E and a G
a 20-70 inside of a horeshoe shaped stamp
0 kg 720
Z50354

On the bottom of the bbl there is the following stamps:
the backwards D followed by 155
B follwed by a 91896

On top of the bbl where it slides into the chamber is the following:
91896
a * over a D
PV under the crown
a stamp that looks like a whisk broom (a stem with a triangular shaped bottom on it)

The stock has a rounded knob grip and the butt plate is black plastic and says FAJEN under the top screw.

I know it's alot of info and all I really want to know is what model, year, etc. of this gun. If anyone has a guesstimate to the value that would be nice to know too.

Thanks for your responses in advance.
Darren

Hello, I'm a owner of a B425 with invector chokes since yesterday. Now it seems that the info on the Browning-site doesn't match up with the serialnumber on my gun : 35775MZ .
Did they use different codes for Europe ( i live in Holland ) or what ? I'd like to know of what year this gun is, or is it just that simple, and the letters MZ stand for 2001 ? Anyone ?

grtz, Jack
