OK, so I'm going on my first deer hunt this fall and I'd like to mount a scope on my Mossberg SA-20 (20 gauge; 3" shell, will be shooting a slug). In all honesty I'm not 100% on deer hunting but am going to give it a go. I don't want to spend a bunch of $$ on a new shotgun specific scope. I have an old Weaver scope that came off of my father in law's 30-06 and I'm thinking about mounting it on my shotgun (for deer and for turkey I think).
Do you think I'm OK with using that scope on a shotgun? I don't know what the difference is between a rifle scope and one for a shotgun or why one for a rifle can't be, or shouldn't be, used on a shotgun.
I own my ignorance here so handle me gently!
