Lyrics video was impressive - chronological and all in one take. No idea why this popped into my head lately -

I grew up with Buck Owens, but it's only been the last few years that I've come to really appreciate what an outrageously good singer he was,,,,,especially with Don Rich singing harmony with him. This is an early Buck Owens song, more on the honky tonk side of the coin than pure Bakersfield, I think. Good stuff if you are into true country music from the golden era. Excuse Me (I Think I've Got a Heartache) from 1961:

In just a few years Buck Owens changes style. If you watch these guys closely, you can't believe they are real. Nobody can really do that. This is pure Bakersfield Buckaroos Don Rich and Buck Owens perfect harmony with Rich setting a Fender Telecaster on fire and making it look simple. Porter had Dolly, Gram had Emmylou, and Buck Owens had Don Rich. After Rich died in 1974 the Buckaroos and Buck Owens lost the magic. But he was very much alive here, singing what may be the signature Buck Owens and the Buckaroos song, "Act Naturally":

I grew up with He Haw. That is the only way I knew Buck Owens. With that in mind, I just can't think of Buck Owens without thinking of Roy Clark.

Thanks for the Roy Clark guitar link. Geez. Don't all the new country artists just suck? They probably know they suck, too. You'd have to know you sucked because you'd come across all that old stuff and you'd have to know how much more talented they were.
I've read somewhere, and it makes a lot of sense, that modern country music didn't start with Hank Williams. It started with Lefty Frizzell, and one of his songs from 1950 called "I Love You a Thousand Ways". This is the much, much better later version from the early seventies, when RCA records sobered him up and gave Lefty the back up artists that he deserved. Enjoy:

Well, I wouldn't say all the new Country artists suck. This guy is pretty good: Ricky isn't exactly new, but he ain't old either.

Shouldn't we move this one to the new Music Video forum?

Cool song. Too bad they're not actually playing those instruments.

Read the description of the vid where the author said that he dubbed in the song over the performance to enhance quality.
Anyways, back to more classic 16 bit game music!
