Great info...I have a 1940 A5 that was purchased by the mother of the guy I bought it from in Elkhart, IN at the Sears store. It's in great shape, was shot very little, I shoot SC with it a couple times a year..tight tight choke on this gun!!

I am a new auto 5 owner adding it to my collection of four Charles Boswell SxS from 1872 to 1929. I have to say this is the best forum I have ever been on in virtually any subject and that from my position as an British shot gun afficionado. My back ground: Now 75, Retired Nuclear Submarine Engineer Officer and twice Engineering and Weapons Manager of Gibraltar Royal Dockyard. The Auto 5 is a mint condition 1936 model.
special congratulations to Sauerfan - brilliant exposition!

Used my 1936 Auto 5 on Wednesday at clay ground on Salisbury Plain. Amazed at the smoothness and lack of recoil using 28g No.8 Eley Intercomp Cartridges. Two misses and then was pulverising clays with the full choke barrel. What a different experience from my 1872 Boswell SxS using 21g No.7 Blackpowder cartridges and the 1888 Boswell on 21g nitro two weeks before.
