Hi all,
As the title states I want to get into the sub gauges and the only thing the gun will be used for is skeet and sporting clays. My current gun, which I love, is the CG Summit Impact with 32" barrels. I have a 410 already, but I do not like the tiny baby frame. So I know I want some type of tubed combo and this is where I need help deciding.
My first option is to buy a new 32" Impact barrel for my CG, send it to Kolar to make a carrier barrel, then to CG for fit and trigger work. This would cost roughly $4700-$5000 depending on the tube package I get.
Second option is to send my current barrel to Kolar, only this time it would be to fit tubes as a companion barrel so I don't loose 12 ga, then to CG for the trigger (I think another poster said Kolar can do this, but would that void the CG warranty?). I haven't priced specifically companion tubes, so not sure it the cost is to just fit these. So not sure on total cost, but probably the same as above minus the $2200 for the barrel.
Third option is to just buy a new gun for the sub gauges. I'm sure used Kolar and CG guns can be had for $7500 or less in this configuration I want. CG has this listed, but no 32" option, which I really like, though not sure it is needed is the sub gauges. MSRP $7,725 (12 Type-S (Skeet 4g Comp. Pkg), 28", 30" barrel).
My thinking is if I have to send the gun away I might as well just the the carrier barrel. If I could have just bought the tubes without sending the gun in I was going to try the companion way, but if I want 410, and I do, I need trigger work. I just verified I do not have a mechanical trigger.
Since I plan to own this gun for a very long time I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest option. But I don't want to waste money at the same time. So I'm looking for help to make the smartest decision from those who have been down this road before.
Thanks
