Maybe I am dyslexic, Uly, but I got it to open easier by filing that lug.

This is because that will increase the distance between that lug and the curved "knuckle" of the receiver which will, in turn, make it easier to open and close the gun. Filing the FRONT end of that lug will make it easier to latch the forend hook when installing the forend on the barrels.

Case closed:-) Maybe HIS case is closed, but cleaning and lubing won't fix EVERY case of "difficult to open" O/U shotgun. In case you weren't aware, sometimes people other than the OP read the threads just for information they might glean. Not a bad idea.

Quite aware. Others also blather in without a clue the OP said ‘thanks, got it!’.;-) don’t feel bad.
And on the topic of the OP, thank you for circling back and letting us know you found a fix, many don’t!

Shoot a case of pigeon loads through it and it will loosen right up.
