Curly - This MAY help tracking down what advert is faulty or suspicious. For the last 3 days or so, this "connecting to external link" status message has been appearing for 2 to 10 seconds when I access a SGW page or refresh the page. app.outdoorhub.com At the very least, this advertising link is causing us all to lose time waiting for it. At the very worst, it could be trying to work hard to install the Trojan package some virus protection is complaining about. CAUTION - FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK ENCLOSED IN THE FOLLOWING VIRUS ALERT! And, my Bitdefender virus protection complains of this particular attack, starting on Aug 20: Infected web page detected August 20 at 3:42 PM Feature: Online Threat Prevention We blocked this dangerous page for your protection: ....https://cloneclicks.com/2272bcb9da3aa2828a.js.... Threat name: JS:Adware.Lnkr.A Dangerous pages attempt to install software that can harm the device, gather personal information or operate without your consent. Your techs may want to check for this advertiser! thanks, garrisonjoe

This is what pops up on my phone when I go to ShotgunWorld. Actually, when I click the thread link in the email I receive from SGW notifying me on new posts in this thread. Sadly, I can no longer post a pic. Guess I've forgotten how, after doing it hundred of times here. Well, here's a link to it. http://imgur.com/a/EhdSyAs

When I click on a link to this forum on my phone, I get a popup that I’ve won some award.

I use my computer for most all of my internet forums, never my smart phone. I run an adblocker on my computer so I don't get pop-up advertisements.
I haven't been on this forum many months, but never had any warnings until a couple of weeks or so ago. Now every time I come to this site my Malwarebytes pops up a Trojan warning as well as every time I click on a thread to read it. Every time so it is definitely seeing something it doesn't like. A few days ago my McAfee also popped up a virus warning, but only the one time. Curious.
I have just been ignoring the Malwarebytes warning, hopefully not to my peril.

Quote: A few days ago my McAfee also popped up a virus warning, but only the one time. If you are wanting to know if your virus protection software spots the same problem every time you access a page on the SGW site, find the error log file that the software writes to. If McAfee is like my BitDefender, it pops a visual warning to you only the first time it finds a suspicious site, but for each following access attempt it writes another entry in the log. There may be some number of days before it gets your attention again with a pop-up warning. good luck, garrisonjoe

Looks like several add blockers are available via the App Store.

DL True statement. I just downloaded and installed a free one. So far, so good. We will see.

The warnings from my anti-virus/anti-malware programs have completely stopped. :-) The only thing bugging me now is the inability to use the "go to the latest post" or "go to the last post" shortcut buttons. They cause a freeze or long hang-up.

I am getting something called Gaurdo. I will not click on it! It takes me a few minutes to get SGW. I didn't get it this time. I finally found a place to get rid of this but it comes back. This is a real pain for someone like me who doean't understand computers very well.

Let me know it you find a way to get rid of this!!!!!!

Ad Block Plus should solve the problem.

Ad Block Premium (not plus) does not add any features that will better block advertising attempts than does the standard Ad Block product.
I'm running Ad Block, it has noted that there were some problems on SGW that it has blocked. That still does not remove the ten second delay that is coming from an attempt to link into the advertising site:
app.outdoorhub.com
On every page display. Thanks, garrisonjoe

AdBlock Plus is an app on my home screen. Clicked on it and then clicked on OPEN to download it again.
