My reply to Morris is: Why wouldn’t you shoot small gauges? Ever run 75 straight with a 28 ga? Remember your first 25 straight with the .410? If you “roll your own”, you can load a lot more 28 ga and .410s than you can big’ol 12 ga shells. Besides, I like my matched pair of 28 and 410 Rizzinis. Oh yes, I’ve got 28 ga tubes for my 12 ga 425 and XS Skeet too. I like “showing-off” with my little guns! BP

Shooting 12ga targets with the 28ga is F U N. But for competition I agree, no reason to use smaller than 12.

If you played sporting clays competitively you will know that playing sub-gauge courses is part of the training. Some shooters prefer them. It's a challenge. pixel art tool

Why would anyone hunt Upland birds with a Browning Midas 20 gauge or svelte Italian small bore, when you could probably get more birds with an ugly Black Benelli 12 bore? It's not just about the kill.

Why drive a sorts car when a large SUV will carry more?
Because it's fun.
And 28 gauge is the sports car of shotguns.

For FUN, and to prove you can be just as good as with shooting a cannon! Apparently there are SOME people who are afraid to take a challenge. (or maybe they aren't good enough and need a "security blanket" or "pacifier"!)

Because it's a heck of a lot of fun, that's why As much shot as a 12? No. But that's why they're fun. Why do you have a black diamond on a ski trail or a super crazy inverted section of a climbing wall?
