it is with a heavy heart as I post, earlier this afternoon, my friend and owner of Pine Belt Gun Club near Hattiesburg, MS, Omar El-Aazami and his fiance', Jan Villemarette of Houma, LA, were killed in a small plane crash outside of Houma. Two of the nicest people you could ever know and great friends to the sporting clays community, as well as superb shooters. They will be missed tremendously. Rest easy in the bosom of God, Omar and Jan.

I’m saddened to read this. I shot with Omar in the main at 2017 Nationals. He was a pleasure to be around. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I am very sad to hear this. This is a real loss to all of us and especially to our sport. All of my prayers and sympathies go out to these peoples family and friends. May the Lord shine his light on them and make them a place in heaven!

Prayers Up. Omar was a Great guy.

Yes he was. I got to shoot w/ him 10-11 times over the years. A great squad-mate and an excellent shooter.

Autopsy revealed Omar suffered a massive heart attack approximately eight miles out from Houma, 1700 ft. altitude, near vertical descent.

I loved Omar. He was such a gentleman and good friend. He always greeted me with "hello, Mr. John" when I showed up for one of his shoots. Sigh...

I would be terribly remiss to not mention what a genuinely fine person Jan Villemarette was as well, as nice as they come. I was not nearly as close to her as Omar, but I knew her well enough to say she was one great gal.

I just figured out this was my friend Omar that I shot with many years ago. He was a super person. I didn't know his girlfriend though.
