Just picked up a working Super 600 in 12 gauge and a Super 500 in 20 gauge that's missing a few parts. Got them both for $20 labeled as "MEC Parts" on the box. Are they worth fooling with and if so, can I still get parts for the 500?

Go online to the MEC site at http://www.mecreloaders.com and look up the loader and download the parts list and assembly drawing. Then see what you have and what you need then compare the price of the parts to see if it is worth fixing up. V/R TonyG

I don't think MEC ever made models with those names. I've never heard of them.

And if they did I doubt they'd have parts for them, since they don't carry parts for some of the very old models they did make.

They did make both models - went on the MEC website and found the operators manuals - the 500 dated to 1961!! Haven't looked into parts yet.

Both the 500 and 600 are progressives which are manually indexed. They did originally have Autoprime systems, but these two didn't have them.

Hmmmm.... I didn't make it to the owner's manual pages. Duh!

Whaddaya know... Learn something new every day. Looks as if parts are still available, too.

Those are real antiques, but I bet they'll still load a damned good shell if you can get 'em in working order.

Guess they were precursors to the Grabbers.

Or maybe the 650.

I remember the manager of our gun club way back in the early 70s spent most of his day cranking out shells on 650s, which we could buy for about $2 a box in any gauge.

They might even have been the 500 or 600 models. Whatever they were, they got one helluva workout almost every day.

I'm pretty sure the Grabber and 9000G weren't around then and the aggravation of getting his shells to consistently chamber in my 1100 was what first convinced me never to own a loader without a resizing station.

Hey Case
I still reload all 4 gauges on 650's. You know the ones with the tube for the primers.
