I can't get the trigger guard to fully seat in the receiver. The trigger guard screw must pass thru the trigger guard to line up with the threads on the other side of the receiver.

I have turned the gun upside down. I have tapped the trigger guard with a rubber mallet. I give up.

If you own one of these utilitarian guns or know the web address of a manual for the Stevens 67 pump gun please help.

I believe you can buy a schematic for the shotgun here:

http://www.e-gunparts.com/schematics.asp

I have a Savage 30D which is similar to yours; I haven't found much in the way of factory information on these guns.

Thanks for the reply.

I found a free schematic here:

http://www.gunsworld.com/exploded/savage67.htm

I seem to have everything in place except for the trigger guard screw. I can't see anything in the schematic to help me seat the trigger guard so that the holes line up.

1) With the hammer cocked, slide the trigger group into the receiver from the rear.
2) Replace the cross screw.
3) Replace the cross pin.
4) Replace the stock.

Assembly/Disassembly instructions are in The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly, Part V: Shotguns under the Savage Model 30.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! :D

I started over, performing each step in order, and it worked.

Message boards are a great way for shooters to share knowledge. I get a warm fuzzy feeling everytime someone helps me out of a jam. God bless Al Gore for inventing the internet.
