Does anyone use a Beretta A390? Is it a good gun for skeet and sporting clays? I have found one for a good price but I do not want to buy it if it is not good for clays. Thanks for your help.

The Beretta 390 was the most popular automatic for sporting clays until Beretta came out with the 391. And of course, the existence of a newer model does not make the 390 any less suitable for clays. If the price is right and it feels good to you, buy it - you won't be disappointed!

If I'm not mistaken I think Scott Robertson - Great Outdoor Games Gold Medalist in Shotgun and one of the top Sporting Clays Shooter is the World uses a Beretta 390.

Is that a good enough reference? :D

I have an AL390 Silver Mallard I use for trap and 5 stand, along with the odd pheasant hunt. I got it used and within the week it gave trouble, dimpled the firing pin, but didn't fire. I sent it back to Beretta, it was fixed in 2 weeks and sent back at no charge (cost me the shipping there only). I was really impressed, it came back and the wood was perfect, not to say it was bad before, but it had a couple of "handling marks" before I sent it. I use briley chokes in it and it is a pleasure to shoot. Sadly though, a year goes by and my wife claimed it for trap shooting, so I had to get another one, this one a like new ST390 Sport 30" trap. For 5 stand I use an AL390 Silver Mallard 20 gauge, not to say I shoot only Berettas, I have 2 Remingtons and a Browning as well, and have had great luck with all of them.

Thanks for the information. I have found a new A390 12 Guage with a synthetic stock and three chokes and a 28" barrel for $498. Does this sound like a fair price?

$498 is a good price, but you might be able to find it cheaper. Someone on this board said that the gun was discontinued for 2004, so Walmart or Galyans may have it for less.

Good LucK
