Hi I was wondering if you could give me info about a old shot gun? I came across a old Shot gun that says H.S.B & CO chicago. It has a chicken on it. It also has a Stamped date that says Patented August 12, 1913. Thanks

Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett was a large hardware wholesale/retail operation located in Chicago, from about 1882 to 1962. Does it say RUSO under the chicken? This gun was probably made by Harrington and Richardson.

Thanks it says RUSO inside of the chicken it's a single shot. Since it's not worth anything would be okay to clean it?

Josephine - Proper cleaning is always a good thing, even on rare and collectable guns. Just don't scrub the original finish off.

I have the same gun very dirty but hesitate to disassemble without a parts diagram, doe's anyone know the actual mfg. it looks like maybe Savage, Stevens, Crescent but not exactly to any of them. I would like to restore this one but again hesitant without a diagram.
