A local dealer has a used Extrema 1 for $1000. A new one with kick-off is over $1800+tx. here in Canada. What are the major differences? I have read the the Extrema 1 was more bulky and a poorer fit for alot of shooters. Are these guns that good, are they worth that much money used when you could buy a new Browning for a few hundred dollars more? Are there any common problems or things to look for when buying one of these guns used? The gun has been on the rack for a few months, so I'm thinking it may be over-priced. Anyone have any idea what these things are worth used in Canada? It is the camo version.

I would see if you can pattern the gun before you but it. If you can't make sure you can at least return it within a few days if it throws the patterns to the side.

What is $1,000 Can in US dollars?

Hey, that exchange rate calculator is pretty cool! What I don't get is how come we have to pay so much difference in the price of guns. For example a Baikal mp153 goes for around 750 cdn. I used the calculator to figure this in U.S. dollars and came up with just over 667. I here of guys in the U.S. buying them for less than 350. What gives?

Swamp:

$750 is definitely high for the Baikal. I have seen new ones sell for $265 (US).

$265 SPR 453

$1800 Canadian is also high for an Extrema II w/ KO. I priced one recently at roughly $1400 US which converts to $1575.14 Canadian.

Does Canada have a competitive gun market, or does the increased regulation decrease competition and thereby increase prices? My recollection is that Canada has enacted much stricter gun laws over the past decade or so. I wonder if this adds to the cost of buying a gun in Canada?

I paid US$1284.99 (currently ~C$1446.32) for my black synthetic 28" Xtrema2 w/ KO this past March. C$1800 seems really high, but I'm unfamiliar with the Canadian firearms market.

Still too high for used. Heck I paid $960 US dollars brand new for my X1 advantage wetlands camo 3 years ago. Last year I saw some dealers getting rid of some new in the box black synthetic X1's for $800.
US dollars for a used Xtrema1 that is 90%, I think would fetch $650-$750 on the open market.
