Contact Franchi via their website. They responded to a question I had in short order. Also, you should be able to get some help from a local Franchi dealer...

Try www.jeffsoutfitters.com, phone 573 651 3200. I bought a 12 ga stock from him just last week, $39.95 plus $10 shipping. You will have to do just a little wood work to make it fit, for my shotgun, the tang at the back of the trigger guard is longer than the place in the stock.

I haven't fit mine yet, but it looks like it should work.

The only weak spot on a Franchi is the stock. With a gun so light, it has to have a light thin stock. I am hoping that a company will start making synthetic stocks for them. Overall, Franchi's are hard to beat. Been using one for many years without a problem. Fortunately, never had a stock to break. I was hoping to find an after market synthetic, but not yet.

I also bought one from Jeff's Outfitters several years ago to cut down for the gun that was passed down from my dad to my son. Now he's grown to where we're putting the original back on.

K24556's link has an extra character in it try this one:

Hey dcg1026, Ive got a al48 12 gauge also that has a cracked stock. No, I have not been able to find supplier with stock to fit. I think I even tried Jeff's outfitters with no luck but dont let that stop you from contacting them. Take the stock off gun and look at end that goes against the gun. If you see a ring make sure the one you inquire about has the ring as well or it probably won't fit your gun. At least that's what I've been told. The real reason I am responding is to ask if your gun has a bent or angled spring tube. Mine does and one gunsmith told me it should be straight. I bought a stock off internet but the hole in it is straight so as a result it doesnt fit. If your gun has straight tube then I'm taking mine to gun smith to get fixed.

Hello again dcg1026
I emailed Franchiusa about my cracked stock and they referred me to Carlson's 785-626-3700. I called them and unfortunately they do not have any stocks for the al48. I also checked http://www.e-gunparts.com/ site and it indicated they have one in stock but when I contacted them they said it must have been sold and the site hasnt been updated yet to reflect that as the site is updated once a week. Did you have any luck with Jeff's Outfitters?

Check out Numrich Gun Parts online. They have stocks listed for the 48-AL except for 28 gauge.

I know this is an old thread, but would anyone here happen to have a butt plate from one of their busted stocks. I can't find a replacement anywhere.

Resurrecting an old thread....

I recently purchased a new stock set for a 12 gauge 48 AL from Jeff's Outfitters. As one of the prior posters described, this stock does have the ring where it attaches to the receiver and therefore it does not fit my 1975 vintage model 48.

However, does anyone know if a acceptable fix would be to simply cut and file away the ring? Or does it serve some other purpose? To me it looks like it would fit.

Thanks...Andrew

You will have to buy a stock and have it cut down. In addition to the sources listed, try Carlson's for a new stock and eBay for used.
