I just wanted to start this thread because ive been reading alot of teh american posts, and see that the vast majority are about semi auto shotguns.

I just wanted to have it noted that i am jealous! we are not trusted with the ability to own or use semi automatic shotguns unless they are of magazine capacity of 2 rounds and no more ( Crimped magazines) and only then if you have a reason for it like a disability!

Enjoy your freedom and toys while theyre still available! Im not sure how many actually realise teh fact that we cant own them!

Enjoy people :)

Regards
Tiny.

Hi tiny,
you can still have a semiauto with up to a five round mag if you can get a cat. "c" licence, (I can get one as a farmer but can't be stuffed with the extra hassle from the firearms mob).
Good to see a few other ozzies here :D .

Well that is true Irish9, However im like you and cant be bothered trying to go for that, as i would find it very difficult to get the "genuine reason" required as im not a primary producer!

Ahh well :) the o/u will have to suffice! :)

Cheers
Tiny.

We have similar laws in Canada. 5 round limit in any semi auto long gun and 10 round max in any handgun. Do you have shell capacity limits on pumps?

Oddly enough, not on pump action rifles, however pump action shotguns are illegal (Or suffer from the capacity limit... i always thought it was 2 rounds.. same as a double barrel!)

No problem wiuth lever action rifles either as far as i know!

Go figure!

Pump action shotguns are classed the same as semiautos here yet we can have pump rifles with as many rounds capacity as you can get  . Also lever shotguns (or rifles) are fine.

Why these laws are the way they are is what happens when people whom don't know what they are doing get to make laws that bugger with people they don't know and don't care about, ie all the shooters in Australia.

Well, I guess there's always the Winchester lever action .410 shotgun. It's too bad they stopped making the 12 gauge.
