What are the differences in these two guns besides appearence. I held a Tempio at Cabelas today with 28" barrels and liked it a lot. They did not have the Summit, which was what i wanted to look at. The Tempio i looked at was priced at $2999. Is that a decent price? I noticed that the gun did not have extended chokes in it; i thought that all CG's did? Is it a older model perhaps? Anyways, I would really appreciate any info on these guns. i am going to buy one of them... next year when I have enough money.

The Tempio is a Field model or Hunting gun. These guns are generaly a little lighter in weight, have a timber butt plate rather than rubber recoil pad, and are fitted with the flush chokes rather than the extended chokes which are in the Target or Sporting models.

Sporting guns are available with 30", 32" or 34" barrels, Hunting guns in 26", 28" or 30". Hunting guns also have 3" chambers, whereas the Sporting guns have 2 3/4" but with duecon extended forcing cones.

Sight beads are also different, Sporters with a white rather than brass front bead, and no mid-bead on the Hunters. Sporting guns also have the adjustable trigger, Hunting guns have a fixed trigger, and along with different pistol grips there are some minor differences in stock dimensions. You can read all the specs on CGUSA's site.

I don't know the price on Tempios but I got my summit limited right there. If you shoot targets a lot, seriously look at the summit or even better IMHO the summit limited. Go to GueriniUSA.com and see where a dealer is near you. You may have to drive a bit but it will be worth it.

all the best,
john

I just noticed Jaquas in Ohio has a summit 12 ga used in excellent condition for 2495. Jaquas.com. Jaquas is a high end dealer up here, well regarded. Go to their gun list, you'll find it.

all the best,
john

Before you commit, you had better check the stock dimensions on both guns to see if your selection is right for you.

OK I talked to A sales rep at Cabela's Today, He said the gun they sale under their name is A Summit Sporting, with engraving done to their specs, And upgraded wood. and they are renamed Tempio Sporting I hope this helps. You can go to the Cabela's gun Library site and see them.

Thanks for letting me know that Magnus.
I would be very interested in your gun, but I do not have the money as of now. I am going to buy this gun for myself when I turn 18, and graduate. :)
