I posted this down in the Miroku forum, but I thought I'd post this here as well as there is more traffic.

I picked up an old B.C. My Luck Model 100 single shot at the gun show last week. I understand that this is an early Miroku import and the "My Luck" is sort of a sloppy English translation of Miroku. It's a 12 Ga with a 32" full choke barrel. The receiver has a nickel finish and the barrel has a short swamped rib that serves to line up the front bead.

The only markings are "B.C. My Luck", "Model 100", "12 GA"
"FC" I assume is full choke, "75 m/m" and the serial number 124xxx.

It locks up like new and appears very well made.

Any input or information on this gun would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Weagle

Didn't the Japanese really try hard, back when they were trying to live down their reputation for making junk? Look at all the hand engraving on that gun. And, they had such funky names, like "My Luck".

I gave my oldest son a really nice Miroku side by side. It's made like a jewel, and has lots of engraving and that god awful high gloss varnish.

When Browning started importing them, Mirokus quickly got conventional, according to American tastes. They kept the high gloss varnish, but the Browning version somehow looks better. But, overall, I think the early Miroku guns had a certain charm the later ones are lacking.

There is absolutely no play in the action on this old beauty and it balances right on the hinge pin.

That is a really neat gun! I love to show up at the range with something no one else has. I'm sure with care that gun will last several lifetimes. Enjoy!

It is a very well made shotgun...smooth action that locks up like a bankvault.

Nice looking shotgun, I own a 26 year old Browning Citori (Miroku) shoots like a new one. And I happen to like its god awful high gloss finish. Mine has some really nice wood though.

Chance...

The wood on this gun is plain, and the hand-checkering is OK but not great in execution. But the metalwork is superb.A friend brought a brand new Miroku 20 ga U/O field gun about a year back....and the checkering (which I guess is done by machine these days) is flawless, and the wood had a nice oil-finish not glossy at all (as you would expect on a modern field gun). But I like single shots and I really like this one.Nice quality singles are few and far between.

Caerlonie. Very cool. That's the only other one of these I've ever seen.

That is a nice looking single shot. Good for you.

Even better looking the second time I checked it out.

Very interesting! A family member has a Charles Daly/Miroku Model 90 vent ribbed, single barrel trap gun which I suspect has a similar action. However, I note that the ejector on your 100B gun is much more robust than that on the earlier Model 90. I'm curious as to whether the lock up is also similar. Could you remove the forearm and barrel and post some photos of the standing breech showing the underbolt together with a side view of the barrel lug.

FWIW, the Model 90 was the immediate predecessor to the Browning/Miroku BT-99 trap gun which, like your gun, featured a beefier ejector than the Model 90. I know that Dakin in San Francisco had previously imported some Miroku SBT's which looked similar to the Model 90 externally but, had a somewhat different lock-up system prior to the Charles Daly/ Miroku agreement. Again, some clear pix of your gun would help to clear things up.
