Thinking about buying another semi auto shotgun...
The 930 pretty much looks like the 9200 to me. What are the differences between these two semi-auto shotguns...? What makes the 930 an improved better model over the 9200..? I did see the 930 came with shims and a cocking indicator like the one on my MP-153. Is the gas system/piston different on these shotguns..? Does the 930 have an o-ring like the 9200..? I'm seeing many good reviews on the 930 so I thought I'd give this shotgun a closer look before I decide.

Right now I'm torn between the Stoeger 2000 12ga, Charles Daly Field Hunter 20ga, and now the Mossberg 930.

Thanks.

I have wondered the same thing. I have not seen a 930 in person yet but on the web site they look pretty similar. I have a 9200. Great gun. The reason I heard Mossberg droped them was they were to expensive to make. I hope the 930 sells well for them. To many "false starts" in the firearms industries makes people nerviouse about buying one. Just look at Remingtons track record with O/U's in recent years.

I bought a 935 in the spring and now have a 930 on order from Gander Mountain. . .$200 in Ganderbucks and they want $349 for the 930. I am a lefty and with the 930 having adjustable cast, I can't turn it down.

And I also found this article

http://www.gundogsonline.com/Article/Mo ... -Page1.htm

If you are thinking about a 20 gauge. . . I just picked up a Beretta 3901 Statesman from Dick's for $454 after signing up for the credit card and $25 off guns. . .it was on clearance for $499. . .fun gun to shoot.

The main difference betwwen the 9200 and the 930 is the was the gas system operates.

On the 9200 the gas system was all in the front of the receiver, this made it so they had to use very long action bars and a lot of travel if they bent it would cause the system to becom unreliable...
One advantage of the 9200 you could use just about any aftermarket stock available.

The gas system on the 930 is a new design, they took some of the ideas from the Winchester SX and some of the ideas from the Beretta and made it easier and cheaper to build. There are NO O-rings to wear out or change!! The recoil spring goes into the stock.

There are probably more differences than that, but those are the obvious ones to me...

As a completely satisfied 930 owner (deer/field combo), I would recommend the 930 without a moment's hesitation. It would be a great deal at half again the price, in my opinion.

I have owned my 930 since last December, and have put approximately 1000 rounds (half of those sabot slugs) through it.
