I have an H&R US Model 1873 Cavalry model and would like some information regarding it. Caliber is 45-70 and serial is SA2590. Wondering what the year of manufacture and value is.

Thanks.

H & R made those guns in the early 70's. Collectors like them today. I've shot them quite a bit and they shoot well.

BTW, in the old days, when original trapdoors were common and cheap kids used to buy them, they cost about $1.50, and shoot .410's in them.

I guess you could still do that. With the hard steel in your H&R trapdoor you'd probably not do too much damage to the rifling.

Can't recall what the values are. I'd say something like $600 now, for a good one; maybe more.
