I recently purchased a shotgun from a garage sell for 20$, when i got home and cleaned it up it said "American Eagle model 67" stamped on one side. It also has a "Noble Vary Chek Choke" on the end of the barrel. The recoil pad says "Jostam MFG. CO. peotonel, Ill. HY-GUN RECOIL-PAD Patented OCT. 12, 1915 Sep. 20,1927". The serial stamped on the side says C10850. If anyone has any information on this gun i would be thankful, i have tried to do research on it but have come up with nothing. Thanks

I have checked every resouce I have and can't find anything on your gun. Numrich has a listing for American Eagle but no other info.

I think probably your gun was outsourced by J. Stevens and may be an earlier model Stevens pump gun. This is only a guess. Can you post a photo?

If you are interested in Jotsam Mfg co., here is a link to ebay where you can buy an American Rifleman, 1929 edition, with a listing for Jotsam.

http://cgi.ebay.com/The-American-Riflem ... dZViewItem

I don't recommend doing business with ebay due to its attitude toward selling gun parts.

I have compared the photos with some I have in the Gun Trader's Guide. Your gun appears to be similar to the Stevens Model 67. It has features similar also to the Noble Model 66.

Someone else can chime in and give their opinion. I don't think Noble was making guns earlier than 1950, so I'm more inclined to lean toward Stevens. They made a lot of guns for other companies, such as Sears, Montgomery-Ward, JC Penny, and a host of other companies.

I found another post describing a similar shotgun, but no pictures of it. (http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=43453). It says that the gun is a Noble, but the pictures I find show a totally different looking forend-though looking at the rest of the shotgun, the parts look similar to those of the Noble model 67 on Gun Parts website and the forend and stock in your picture do not look as if they match (maybe just the picture?). http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem. ... el=0850z67

The gun in the photo is a Noble Model 60. They were made from 1955 to 1966. The same gun without the Noble Vari -Choke was designated the Model 65. While similar to the Stevens early pumps it has a different magazine to barrel mount and most of the Stevens guns had three exposed pins/screws on the receiver.

The checkering and the forend style suggests that it is an earlier gun from 1955-57 era.

A5, you did it! I think I was blindsided by the patent date. Good research! 8)

A pile of old catalogs and a life well spent poking around musty old gunshops is all that it takes.
