I am a newbie in the Sacramento area and would like to know where the best places to shoot Sporting Clays are located and how you would rank them - Thanks!

I have heard nothing but good things about Coon Creek, in Lincoln. I am still new to clay target shooting and have not been out there or tried sporting clays yet, but do have friends that shoot their regularily.

Camanche hills they have a great setup I think thye have over 30 stations and they usually host the state and zone shoots. Nice people too I used to work for them in High School. Bring lots of refreshments though because it is hot out there.

Coon Creek is my home club. They have a great sporting clays course. I've done the first 8 stations. They also have trap and skeet.

Auburn only has 5-Stand, which they used to throw Saturday mornings (I haven't been out there in quite a while). They also have trap.

Sage Hill in Reno has a challenging Sporting Clays course as well. They throw trap and skeet, but it isn't worth it for that. They really have been focusing more on the SC's than anything else.

I can find more SC courses for you if you wish, I know there are a few more out there, just can't remember where they are.

Hope this helps some.

There's one in Woodland/Davis (yolo sportsmen). It's not great but the place is laid back, close to me and only $6 for a round of trap. If you want sporting.. you'll have to go somewhere else.
