I am looking at 3 different ithaca 37s. These are all 3 the riot model with 20" barrel and full length magazine tube. They all seem to have synthetic stocks.

I am trying to decide which to get and am curious which would slamfire and which would not? Does anyone know what year that was changed?

From what I can tell they are:
-1971 model for 220 with rifle sights and recoil pad
-1972/73 model for 180 with just front brass? sight
-1981 model for 180 with just front brass? sigh (best outside condition of 3 probably)

Thanks

1975 "ish". But Ithaca continued to sell slamfire guns to LE whenever requested. Lots of these have ended up in the used gun market over the past twenty years, so 1975 is by no means a defining date. You have to check each gun before buying it.

Personally, I don't like the slamfire "feature" as it's 100% useless in the real world.

That said, assuming there's nothing badly wrong with any of them, I'd go in this order from your list:

1) 1971 gun,

2) '72/73 gun,

3) 1981 gun.

Thanks, I went ahead and got the 71. I know it is more of a "hey watch this" type thing, kind of neat I guess. Really just wanted to know out of curiousity before buying. Ended up getting it for 200 too :D

FWIW, I referred somebody to Les @ Diamond who then modified a non-slamfire Stakeout to be slamfire, so it's possible to change.
