Choate has just made available a pistol grip for the Mossberg 930. I will provide pics as soon as my order arrives.

To install, remove your recoil pad with a screw driver. Then use a deep well socket to remove the nut that holds the stock on. Then put the new stock on and replace the nut and then install the pad.

I am waiting to see how it looks on the SPX. I have never been a fan of the way Choate stocks look. They always have that funky curve in the butt stock and I like the traditional style stock.

BUT if it looks good I will order one.

I agree. Choate stocks are ugly and this one is no exception. But if it works and serves your purpose well, then the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would like to see a SpeedFeed IV, or even better, the IV-S short LOP made for the 930. I think Choate is wise to jump into accessories for this shotgun, since everybody else is neglecting it. Although, it is pretty much set up how I would like it right out of the box. My economic stimulus check is burning a hole in my pocket. If I come across a 930 SPX at a local shop, odds are good that it will come home with me.

I'll pass too. They just slow me down. I would like(begging here) for someone to come out with a shorter recoil system that allows for a shorter LOP.

Please post pics!!

I can't install one on my SPX, here in CT I would be guilty of making an "assault weapon"...

Just got my PG today. It looks great, I'm impressed. I reserve judgement for the final instal, but so far so good.

Fast shipping BTW. Very happy with customer care on the initial buy.

One observation though is that I think it will be a hair shorter making it alot easier to use with a tac. vest/armor. (also will help those with shorter arms).

Pic coming soon :)

Hello all. Recent lurker here. I just received my Choate grip and thought I would register and share some pics with you. I snapped them quickly, so they're not the best. I'm sure TYWRAP will have some more that we all can enjoy.

The build quality is very good and the finish blends well with the look of the gun.

Can anyone explain why the stock is not just one piece, but instead has a spacer-like part towards the end of the stock(see last pic)? It's actually a separate removable piece that fits in between the padded end and the back of the stock. I cannot determine what purpose this serves. Perhaps some flexibility for modifications to the recoil assembly?

Nit picking aside... you know what, I don't think this thing looks all that bad. The Choate style is truly function over form, but I like it.

Anyways...

welcome, and the pics aren't all that bad. the spacer is so you can adjust the length of pull.

Thanks. I should clarify that the spacer is required for the install. You cannot leave it out, so I'm not sure that it's for the pull. That's why I'm wondering why the stock is not just one piece. I could be wrong.

Given the gap between the rear of the trigger guard and the permanent "spacer" I would say that this is a stock that was originally molded for another type of shotgun that was "adjusted" to fit the 930. The 930 has an action spring that sticks back into the stock. It might be that the original stock mold does not have enough room, thus the "spacer." The lack of flow from the trigger guard to the PG it looks moreso.

Just got home and installed the PG. I really like the build quality of the PG, very solid. Install was easy and it feels great. Very functional (I sort of like the look too). For ~$80 I feel it was a good mod for the money.

Here are some quick pics I took. Great pics B-Smooth!
