I was at the fun store and they have a 16 gauge Arrieta Orvis Uplander. Thius is a side lock with blue side plates. The barrels are 28 inch. The store list it as a funeral gun but I think this is just because of the unembellished side plates. Can anyone weigh in to what Arrieta action this is?
Also what would one would price this out at. The gun is 95% maybe 98%.

Orvis in Manchester, VT has one in stock, 12 ga, for $4500.

They are reliable in their descriptions and that should give yhou an idea of top-end prices. Orvis will negotiate.

Good looking gun.

this particular gun is listed at $2400 and I can pick up for $2300
It looks like the gun pictured from the above post. I assume it is a 557.

My memory of the funeral gun is that the sideplates are black with some kind of framing around the Sidelock plates. The Sidelocks have no engraving on any of the Uplanders. That price is pretty good and at the low end.

$4500

$3300

I believe Thadscott always had a couple of used Uplanders in the mid $2K's.

Wingshooting adventures has a few now for $5600!

Although, I will say there are some great bargains to be had right now on the market.

Several AYA#2's in that price range. If you have your heart set on an Arrieta, a 16ga and you like that gun and the wood.....grab it.

You'll never go wrong with that gun at that price.

Enjoy, Roger.

I am bringing up an old thread I started but the fun shop that had the Arrieta Uplander in 16 gauge reduced the gun further to $2000. I never bought the gun but I think I might now. 27 inch barrel IC/Mod.

What are you waiting for? I know you'll kick yourself if someone buys it out from under you.
Sounds like a good deal based on the previous threads. And a Spanish 16 is always good.

I bought an Arrieta Orvis Uplander from Robin Hollow a few months back, he wanted $3900 for it. It's a 20 gauge with 28" bbls and a long stock (15 3/8"), I worked out an even up trade but thought it was fairly priced, I have pics of it here on this thread, the sideplates are cc and not blued, plates have a simple border line engraved. It weighs in at 6lbs 1oz. It's a wonderfully well made gun, with nothting to complain about. At $2000 buy it! If you don't please PM the store's name and location so I can (Seriously, not kidding).

Sounds like you will be the proud owner of an Arrieta as good as any for an amazing price.
It's cosmetics that make it the 'Uplander'.
Grab it. It's a great deal for sure.

Enjoy, Roger.

Check it out - make sure it locks up tight and the barrels shouldn't wiggle when it's closed and the forend is off.

Then take the barrels off, hang them from your finger by the lumps and snap a finger at the bottom (muzzle end) of the barrels.

The should "ring" with a nice clear sound.

Then buy the sucker - it really is a good price and you can always get your money back.

I agree with all the comments above --Pumpster is right about being able to sell it if you do not like it. $2000 for an Arrieta is a durn good deal.
