You can get a Beretta 687 brand new for less than 3k, and you can get a Browning Cynergy/Citori for that much, as well. I prefer the Beretta, but I've owned both and they both work quite well. Handle both and see what you think.

For that kind of money take a look at the new Browning 625.

They are a real nice O/U for about $2,600.00

If you're after an excellent shotgun for the money, look at a 682 with adjustable comb. You won't look back. They are $1500 or so extra, but well worth the money. The 682 is the leap up from the likes of the browning or Miroku. The balance is superior. The mechanics & trigger are excellent, & the reliability is second to none for the money. The Miroku (browning) are hardy enough, But rough as guts & make no mistake. If you wish to feel some excellence in the gun you buy, then your choices for the moment are Italian guns.

There's no "best" shotgun ,but in that price range there are alot of very good guns to choose from.
Just go with what fits and feels best to you from makers with a good track record and you'll be happy. That's the bottom line and all the really counts.

I would say Caesar Guerini, Browning or Beretta. Not that one is realy better then the other.
I place then in the order of felt recoil and feel. I own all three.
Thats me you my list them diffance but they are all very good shotguns.

A used k-32 with a K-80 trigger upgrade or a 682.

If you’re going to only shoot clay targets you can’t go wrong with either the Browning XT (if mostly trap shooting all phases) or the XS (if mostly skeet/clays). Both can be purchased for under $2500 if you look around. I bought my XT for $1949 in May of this year from Sportsman's Warehouse. I shoot BT99 for single and handicap and use my XT for both doubles trap and some skeet (haven't tried Sporting Clays yet).

My suggestion would be an SKB TSS Combo. 34" Single underbarrel with high rib for trap. 30" O/U barrels for everything else. Here is one:

Here is the company website / model.

Take a look. Best buy for the money IMHO.

Traditional looks and feel = Beretta 687 or White Onyx,Browning Citori.
Contemporary looks/styling = Browning Cynergy series.
They can be had under $2,000.00(NIB) if you know where to
look. 8)

For that money I'd get a Beretta 682 32".

I think my Browning Citori 525 Gr. 3 Sporting with adjustable comb and 32" barrels is as close as you can come to an "all-around" shotgun for under $3000. (and I bought it new for just under $2000!) :D

I would expect similar performance and reliability from the current Browning 625 series.

A Beretta 682 new will run at least $3K, but will be a very good gun.

I think you should give the Cynergy Sporting a try. Mechanically, it's every bit as good as the Beretta, maybe better in some ways, but it does handle differently. The best part is it will save you at least $1k. Give one a try, you might like it.

for a whole lot less you can go to a 101 winchester. I have used them most of my adult life and never had a better shooting gun.....redman

I would take any of these guns in a heartbeat.
My order of preference would be:
CG Summit
Beretta 682
Browning 525
Any Cynergy Classic

I disagree. Caesar Guerini is in a class by itself. You can't find a better OU. And Guerini USA customer service is unbelievably wonderful. I won two Guerinis, and I'd buy another one just for the fabulous customer service.
