May have a lead on a 20 gauge Orvis Uplander, SL no engraving. Any feedback or thoughts on these guns?

Is this one an Arrieta?

Not entirely sure...I'm going to see it this week, I believe it is however, it's a newer one.

That's pretty close, the pic I have seen is on a cell phone so not too clear......case colored sidelocks, straight grip. Assuming it's an Arrieta which model is it closest too?

I don't know where you are, but why not call John Rano at Orvis in Manchester VT? John is manager of their gun dep't and a good guy and I'm sure he'll give you the straight scoop on this gun, including used value.

I have never owned an Orvis branded gun but I suspect that the quality will be good. Orvis is an up-market brand and they're not going to put their name on shoddy goods.

In the past, I've bought things about which I didn't know very much simply on the basis of the Orvis brand and have never been disappointed.

But give John a ring - he might clear everything up for you.

Thanks for the responses guys.....the guy with the Uplander may want to trade my Aya 4/53 deluxe for his Uplander, both 20 gauges, probably a little cash thrown in...the LOP on the Uplander is too long for him and he doesn't want to shorten it (?). HE also said he prefers engraving....(?) so we'll see.

I'll see the gun in hand thursday and make a determination then I guess.

Well......the disease strikes again and the Arrieta is mine...did trade the 4/53 so it's an even Spanish wash, right?

Pics to come soon.

Very, very elegant! Those plain sidelocks are very nicely understated.
