You'll probably get a much better response to this inquiry if you post it in the gun ID and value section. Some really knowledgeable appraisers hang out there and will respond quickly.

Hardly nuthin'. Maybe put a for sale note on the bulletin board at your laundromat. And send me a copy...quick. And whatever you do, don't post it in the forum at http://16ga.com/forum/...you will just get a bunch of misguided 16 gauge addicts talking good money for your ol' gun.

Sounds to me like SOMEONE wants to get it - and for cheap, too!

Probably somewhere around $50.00 to $300.00.

I learned something today! I did not know that the people who post on the 16ga.com form were a bunch of misguided 16ga addicts talking good money for a old gun.

Made from 1956 until 1963, your M58 Sportsman is worth in the $140 - $300 range depending on condition. You can add about $90 for a VR. The $140 gun would be in the 80% area and the $300 gun would be very minty.

Yeah, it's all crazy talk about 16 ga guns and how great they are and how to reload shells for them and where to find cheap ammo and other useless stuff. And some impostor using my name keeps posting messages on it and making deals on guns. I sure hope my wife doesn't think it's me!

Does the 58 16 weigh as much as the 58 12? Never held one or seen the work specs on its weight. In other words, is it build on a 12 gauge frame?

The 1959 Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalogue gives the weights as 6 1/2 pounds in 20-gauge, 6 3/4 pounds in 16-gauge and 7 pounds in 12-gauge. Those weights sound light to me!!

I wonder if that is a vent rib weigh in. I would imagine a VR can add some solid weight?!

Don't be fooled - it is a decent gun worth at least $300 if in good shape and operating properly by 16 gauge lovers!
