will the 12 ga 1400 barrel fit the 12ga 1500 xtr , I would like to find a shorter barrel for my 1500 xtr , I have a 30 inch on it would like to get a 24 inch or 26 inch and have two barrels , also did they make a slug barrel for the 1400 or 1500 and did they ever make these two winchester shotguns in 410, my 1500 xtr shoots great and would like to have one in 410 if possible, I know the 1500 xtr was short lived, but mine works Great
Thanks for all your Help

The barrels should interchange. AFAIK they smallest gauge for that design was the 20g.

The Model 1500 is nothing more than a Model 1400 with some refinements and a higher grade of finish on the wood and metal.
There were no .410s or 28s.
The Model 1400 was offered in 12, 16, and 20. They also were offered with a 22" special bore deer barrel.
The Model 1500 was offered in 12 and 20. No deer barrels, but as stated, the 1400 barrel will fit.

I had two 1400's and a 1500 about 15 yrs ago and I made up one good one out of the three - I had a problem changing barrels - As far as I can remember I put a 1400 barrel from a gun that had the ejector spring held in by the pin at back of the receiver onto a 1500 that had ejector spring held in place by the spring clip at front of receiver - I had loads of trouble with the spring clip breaking - after nearly a year I found problem - the ejector spring fit's into a cut out on side of barrel - the cut out on 1400 barrel was deeper than 1500 with result that the shoulders on ejector on 1500 hit the little tags on ejector clip and broke them off - I had to drill and peg the cutout to act as a stop for ejector spring. - the other way to fix it is to file the shoulders back on ejector spring.
Hope yours fits and you don't get this problem.

Dave

Thanks Dave:

I don't have a 1400 barrel yet to try, my 1500 works great just the way its set-up , thinking now I may just buy anoher shotgun with a shorter barrel, I might try to go with a used super x, I don't want to mess up my 1500 xtr, Thanks for the information
