Winchester is offering a rebate of $2 per box (for up to 5 flats) until 1 Oct. It comes in the form of a “Winchester AA Debit Card”

I may stop reloading 28 gage for a while since, after selling the hulls, it will only cost me $3.80 per box to shoot factory AAs.

Looks like Remington has a similar offer. Might be time to stock up on hulls.

well since the Winchester rebate can only be used to buy Winchester ammo it's not exactly a rebate or $2 off

The AA does too...but my wife works in the schools and just got off for the summer on Friday. I actually pulled off the...how about cutting off some codes so that I can get a $100 rebate? I didn't walk her over to the 5 flats of shells until after I had the commitment though!

Until June 15, Sportsman’s Warehouse is running their “Bounceback”

Spend $100 and get a card for $25 back (rebate of 25%)

Spend $200 and get a card for $50 back (rebate of 25%)

Spend $300 and get a card for $75 back (rebate of 25%)

Spend $400 and get a card for $100 back (rebate of 25%)

Spend $500 and get a card for $150 back (rebate of 30%)

So you get into the money at that $500 / 30% level.

THEN there are rebates for $2 a box each on:

Win AA http://www.winchester.com/marketing/pro ... otionid=36

Fed Gold Medal http://www.federalpremium.com/pdf/FP426 ... Coupon.pdf

Remington STS http://www.remington.com/pdfs/09REM5354 ... Coupon.pdf

I know the STS and AA start out at $8.50 a box, so that works out to:

$8.50 – 5% for buying by the flat = $8.075

Then add back in sales tax, 6% (Kentucky)= $8.56

Then take off the $2 a box rebate = $6.56

Then take off the $2.57 rebate from Sportsman’s (at $500 level) = $4.00 a box for premium ammo. You do end up with a lot of that as rebates though, not cash.

I bought…a bunch… last weekend. They were really low on 1oz loads, but did still have some left.

About the only things I buy at Sportsman's are Steel waterfowl loads and lead shot bags....but I can use the rebates for that and still come out pretty well.

According to Winchester's web site "case UPC’s accepted in lieu of individual boxes."

Shhhhhhh! I don't want her to find that out NOW, envelope with 50 UPC's is already in the mail. Now I just need to find somewhere that is selling 1oz STS's or Fed's. I went last night and could only find 1 1/8oz in stock of either.

Why don't they just lower the price?

Well, that's pretty simple, the existing shells on the shelf are already owned by the retailer, and he paid for them in the recent past higher price. Now you expect him to take a bath by lowering the price of the shells at his level in the distribution chain? That makes good friends! Same with the distributors.

The rebates do not effect the local shop or distribution chain's inventory cost at all. They don't loose their a$$ on cheaper shells. WW eats the "loss" not the retailer. Sure they could have the retailer apply for the "rebate", but.....

Makes sense to me!

Why do they not give you cash instead of credit on product? That is pretty simple too. They are crediting you at retail and their cost is actually absorbed at their manufactured cost of the product. They do not have to eat the distribution and retail markup that way. They give you an incentive to buy more shells and their shells at that! Why would they want to give you cash so you can go buy the competitors product instead? The next thing they are hoping for is some folks will not take the time to actually take advantage of the rebate and that again is their gain. One more reason they do not want the retailer to do the rebate, he WILL turn in ALL his rebate forms.

How can they afford to do a rebate now? Prices of raw materials have dropped considerably and maybe, just maybe, they have some high priced stock they really need to part with right now. You can't just take a flat of shells to the grocery store and trade it for groceries, they want your cash. They got to turn some of that inventory into cash even if they don't make much or any money on it. Get out from under a bad situation as best you can, recover what cash you can from non moving high price of production inventory and reinvest it in something you can market and sell profitably. i.e. lower cost product! You can sit on inventory till hades freezes over but that doesn't do much for cash flow. Cash flow is what you take to the bank, margin is what you leave in the bank. BUT, if you don't take cash flow to the bank, there is no possibility of leaving any there either.

Marketing really is fairly simple!

They are coming in. Got my Remington rebate early this week and a buddy got his AA rebate card last week. They were sent in about the end of June.

They are checking accuracy of the receipts and UPC's. Talked to a fellow at the range who was declined. The info didn't match up.(and he knew it sending it in!)

I sent in my AA rebate form on 10 Aug, so I guess I will get my Discover Cash Card in November.

I have never had a cash card, can I use it at the supermarket, where $100 doesn't go very far?

My Dick's Rebate came in yesterday, about a month, and a good ol check, them I know how to use.
