Can anyone tell me how old this gun is? The serial number is 795902. We are trying to find where we can get parts to restore her. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

There are no official serial number records remaining for Crescent Fire Arms guns but the late outstanding researcher and writer Joseph T. Vorisek worked out some records. According to Joe's records, your gun was made in 1934. It was made for and sold by Sears Roebuck & Co. As for parts, depending on what is needed, it may be hard to find. Most of the parts are simple and can be made by any competent gunsmith. Of course the cost may be more than the value of the gun. You can also try Gun Parts Inc (www, gunparts.inc) and check through the various auction sites.

I'm a little confused. In all the period paper I have "Empire" is the name on Crescent doubles, none of which are ejector guns. The single barrels with an ejector are either "New Victor Special" or No. 11 "Victor". 1934 would be well into the years the Savage-owned Crescent-Davis Arms Corporation was operating in Norwich.

Looking through Joe's article in his Shotgun Research Newsletter, Volume Two, Issue 6, I see he shows a "FLAT FRAME MODEL SINGLE" which at various times was called a VICTOR NO. 10 & NO. 11, NEW FIELD, EJECTOR NO. 2 and EMPIRE NO. 15, and says it was made from 1901 to 1932. Again, I have a lot of paper from WW-I to WW-II and I don't find that "EMPIRE No. 15" name anywhere.

I have a reference that I have researched myself that I keep by the computer. The information comes from many sources including Joe's The Breech Loading Shotgun In America and Shotgun Markings 1865 to 1940 A list as well as several other authors and sources. I have listings for Empire Ejector, Empire No. 15 Ejector, a whole slew of Victors including Victor No. 15 and Victor Ejector all made by Crescent.

Oh. I just checked my collection inventory list and I have two No.15's Empire Ejectors and one Empire Ejector in my collection. The names were taken right off the guns.

That's more like it. The gun was made in 1930.
