"The AT14 is a unique shotgun because it is the first smooth bore, 410 cal., semi Automatic shotgun ever made based on an assault rifle. Thus we are aiming to feed the needs of a different way to look at shotguns for hunters and sportsmen worldwide."

We've had em for months, but nobody's bought one yet. I am not impressed.

Probably because no one can afford to pull the trigger that fast on a .410 without being a reloading junkie.

Yep. Still do, I think. They also make a 20 and (as you know) a 12.

Blender, how much do they retail for?

If it is cheapish, I could see how having one would be fun at times. But if costs as much as a real AR does, then I can't see anyone buying one. Home defense? I have a 12ga. Hunting? I have a 12ga. for that too.

If you chopped down the barrel on one and then put it on a registered Short Barreled Rifle lower... would you wind up with a SBR or a SBS?

I don't think the BATFE ever anticipated something like That happening.

That's a good question

I don't think you are allowed to just throw any short upper on a SBR registered lower. When you register the lower you are actually registering to create a specific firearm not modify one. I gather the ATF used to allow you to register it to "multiple calibers" and a non specific barrel lengths like "Less than 16" but now they are very particular. Because of that when you file your form 1 even though the AR lower you are starting with was a rifle I believe you would be creating a SBS since in it's final state it would be a shotgun.

The only thing shorter about the carbine model is the handguards, looks like the barrel on it is actually longer than the A2 model. I'd rather shoot 5.56 than .410 out of the AR platform anyway. Make a 12 ga then we'll talk.

From what I understand they don't fit and wont work.

The uppers would fit they did on AR15 Forums. The mags would not.

I don't know about this one though.

Not a possibility. They're in the same vein as the Colt .22 AR's... they look like an AR on the outside, but they are different enough on the outside that that mating would not work.

From AIM Surplus’ website:
Quote:
Item#AT-T14Classic
Turn your favorite AR15/M16 into a Semi-Automatic .410 Guage Shotgun! New Safir Arms Industrial Company Ltd. T-14 Classic .410 Guage complete Upper Half. Just bolts on like any standard AR15/M16 upper. Features a 20" smooth bore barrel, 5rd polymer magazine, and semi-automatic Recoil operation. Quality Steel, Aluminum, and Polymer Construction.

It is supposed to fit any standard lower.
I'm aware of the guy on AR15.com who tried to swap uppers on complete guns and it didn't work. It's possible that the upper has a few differences from the complete gun that make it compatible. I can't say for sure but I wouldn't be so certain that an upper half won’t work just because of what some guy on AR15.com says or just because the upper from a complete gun won’t swap.

There is one at the gunshop/range nearest me, a shotgun upper that they put on a RRA lower, I believe. Hasn't been shot yet, but there is a lot of interest in stuffing one of the (soon to be available) 18 or 20-round mags full of the new Federal(?) load and seeing how effective that is at household ranges.

Care to cite a source for this? There is one at BullsEye Marksman, just around the corner from you. I'm sure anyone behind the counter would let you see their AT14 shotgun upper mated to a standard AR rifle lower. You Are aware that they do sell just the uppers, right? If the are not able to mate with a standard lower, then what are they intended to be mated with?

That upper might work IDK I was simply stating from a very good Gear Reviewer on the forum. He tried to swap uppers from that complete gun from ATI.

It swapped over but the mags wouldn't fit. Don't get me wrong I think they are very interesting I would like to have one. Put it next to my Winchester .410 Lever.

I much rather wait and see if CMMG comes out with that 12G AR anytime soon.

I'd be happy if someone just brought out a nice pump action 12 gauge...say with a 20-round magazine :)

The Monolith P12 that I think was sold to Magpul...hard to remember.
