Am inquiring about any info. on manufacture date and appox. value of a Fabrique National D' armes De Guerre Herstal Belgique. Browning Patent Depose, 12 ga., solid rib, auto.,acier special, sn. 88546. Good operating cond., no rust or damage. Minimal wear on stock and forearm. I have no plans to sell it or use it. Handed down from Grandfather. Butt plate has the FN logo. FYI, inside stock I found his 1940 hunting license. I can only guess on its age, but I believe it was bought new in early 1930's in USA. I read some info about this type of gun was only offered in Europe. Can't figure how he got it since he never travelled abroad. Any info about this gun is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Duck Buster

DB - I cannot offer you any additional information regarding your family heirloom. However I think I speak for most readers of this thread when I say you must post pictures of this shotgun! :)

Gun 88000 entered the FN warehouse on 12/31/1926 and gun 94150 on 6/30/1927.

Glad to see it's not for sale but a few doves, squirrels or even a duck or two with bismuth or Kent T/M would not hurt the gun and would be a good way to honor and connect with Grandpa that few people will ever get the chance to do or even understand.

Wow! I have my Grandfather's A5 from 1927 12ga and it is only a few numbers off of your gun. I wonder if your gun was purchased in Terre Haute, IN or Peoria, IL?

Grampa's gun gets out every season as it has for the last 80 some years. It has never failed to work and the only servive that it has had was a proffesional cleaning about 20 years ago. As I remember, at that time, a spring and an extractor were replaced. I have no idea how many shells have been through that gun.

My first post on this forum. Does anyone have or know where I can get a takedown manual for this animal -- Fabrique Nationale 12 ga. Acier Special?

Thanks,

Nemo
