From the manual on the BPS downloaded from Browning's website, page 17

BPS Manual pg17 wrote:
INVECTOR-PLUS™
All current BPS 12 and 20 gauge shotguns, except the Deer gun, have
back-bored barrels and are threaded to accept Invector-Plus™ choke
tubes only. The word INVECTOR-PLUS denotes that the barrel is
threaded. The degree of choke in the tube is indicated twice on each
choke tube: inscribed on the side of the tube, and indicated with a
“notch” code on the top rim of the tube. All Invector-Plus choke tubes
are made with tempered steel and are fully compatible with all
FACTORY AMMUNITION (loaded in compliance with SAAMI
specifications) including magnum lead and steel shot loads and rifled
slug loads
. Our universal tube wrench is used to remove and install
these tubes.

I have taken two deer with my BPS stalker and good old Remington 3 inch Remington Sluggers (rifle/foster slugs). Later when I got into shooting 3-gun/multi-gun competitive shooting I shot a lot of Remington 2.75 reduce recoil sluggers through that same shotgun. With my setup I found a skeet tube worked pretty good with the foster slugs.

hopes that helps

Here's my $0.02. My experience with both my 12 ga Browning Gold Hunter and BPS (both are smooth bore) is that they like the 2.75 Remington Slugger Foster style slugs fired through the IC choke tube. Using open sights (from Williams, not the bead on the end on the barrel) we get 2-3 inch groups at 50 yds from the bench. The Gold is chambered for 3.0 & the BPS for 3.5 hulls. The 3 inch Foster loads loads don't group as well.

I've tried many different brands but the Rem work best.

I recently bought a used 20 ga BPS and so far it doesn't seem to like any brand of slugs, yielding 6 inch groups at 50 yds.

Regards,

Kosman

I tried several different types of Foster type slugs in both a 20ga and a 12ga Upland Special BPS (22" barrels). The results were very poor, about 8" at 40 yards. The same guns will shoot exellent groups with the 24" Buck Barrels, though. My nephew took his deer with the 20ga this season.

Overbored barrels do not seem to shoot slugs very well and some makers have stamped a caution statement on their overbored barrels.
