I'm trying to determine the year and value of my fathers:

"Fox Model B 16 gauge BSE-D" side by side, single trigger shotgun with no serial #.

The words "FOX BSE-D" are engraved on the right side (The 'D' is half the size of the 'BSE')
The barrels are 26".
The chambers are 2-3/4" in length.
There's a picture of Fox underneth by trigger guard.
Has a black plastic grip cap.
Has a white stripe by black plastic butt plate and by black plastic grip cap.

Very good condition...only flaw is a 1 inch chip in the black plastic butt plate.

My father purchased this in 1980.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

It would have to be 1966, when the BSE was introduced, 1967, or early 1968 befor the gun control act of 1968 required Savage to begin putting serial numbers on them.

Thanks!

Any idea of it's value? (very good condition only flaw is the chip I mentioned).

Also, what does the "-D" mean engraved after the "FOX BSE" on the right side? The letter 'D' is half the size of the 'BSE'. Does this have any reflection on the value?

In addition to my earlier posts...

My father found some old firearms registration paperwork for the Fox Model B "BSE-D" mentioned above and it has a serial # writen in on the paperwork.
I can not find a serial # on the shotgun itself.
Where would the serial # be engraved on the shotgun???
