A couple of Eibar companies make 8ga guns. I am sure that you could commision a Purdy or Holland gun but the cost would be close to that of a new home. There are lots of good older guns around at better prices.

Just for once we have it better in UK than in the US.

I don’t think it’s lawful to use big bore guns in the US for live shooting; you can own them but not pursue live quarry. No doubt someone can clarify this.

In the UK we can use anything up to 1 ½” bore punt guns. Probably most wildfowlers use 12 bores of various chamber lengths, but there are still a lot of ten and eight bores in regular use, and the odd four bore.

There are a few people still making four bores and punt guns; not so long ago a guy called Alan Myers made a two bore; it was pictured going off at night on the front of “Shooting Times”. Mighty powerful wampum!

I've used a single six bore muzzle loader and that was fun, but a right cannon to lug around. Also given the age and value of that gun (and others) you are reluctant to take them onto a tidal marsh, so most are now in glass cases. Sad really.

If you are serious about getting a four bore made drop me an email and I'll dig out the contact info.

Regards

Eug

Anything bigger than a 10ga is illegal for hunting waterfowl (migratory birds)in the US. Some states do not allow hunting with guns larger than 10ga. In my state, you can hunt anything other than migratory birds with any size gun.
