I'm just recently getting into shooting trap. I currently have an 870 with a 26" mod choke barrel. It happens that my father has a shotgun that he's looking to sell, but doesn't have much info on it. He thinks its from the 60's and its a beretta and is marked trap special. The barrel is 31-32 inches long 12 gauge, full choke. Unfortunately he's in Ohio and I'm in Washington so I can't really look it over. He showed me over skype and it looks identical to this gun here:

Is this a good trap gun? What is it worth (in general terms)?
Thanks for your help!!

Its a TR-1. The TR-2 was similar but had a higher rib.

Here's one for sale now: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =153110726

Here's another, but this one has some serious issues (stock cracked in several places): http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displ ... &oh=216543

My Blue Book (a couple of years old) puts the price at $100-275 depending on condition, but I'm sure the prices are higher on the internet auction sitesl.

Hey thanks for that! Any opinions on this particular gun for trap shooting? Would this be a decent gun or would I be better served putting my money elsewhere? Again all I have now is the 870 as above

Thanks for the opinions

The Beretta Models TR-1 & TR-2 were based on a utility grade folding shotgun and offered from 1969 to 1973 when they were replaced by the Mark II Single Barrel Trap Model which was built on an O/U action. The 2008 Edition of the Standard Catalog of Firearms lists the TR-1 & TR-2 values as ranging from $100.- up to $300.- depending upon condition. IMO, there are better choices. A used Remington Model 870 or 1100 Trap would be a better choice. More bucks will buy a used Browning/Miroku BT-99 SBT or an SKB O/U.
